Wikipedia defines a shelter as “a basic architectural structure or building that provides protection from the local environment. Having a place of shelter, of safety and of retreat, i.e. a home, is commonly considered a fundamental physiological human need, the foundation from which to develop higher human motivations”.
With the idea of a restaurant that could bring the coziness of a shelter to customers, V&M restored an old building located in the center of Hanoi to Labri Bistro.
Labri could be described as a neo-bistro, where everyone can get a casual, friendly, inexpensive French dining experience. Here, each of our dishes is a careful curation of French and Asian flavours in a perfect union. The regularly rotating menu of market-driven dishes is built around French traditional recipes warmed up by Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese essence. You might find dishes like salmon ceviche served with banana flower; mushroom and onsen tamago; chicken tsukune with chicken jus; snowfish with mushroom consomme; or abalone and lotus seed. And we also offer various options of wine from the cheapest to the finest that complement whatever ends up on the plate.
Labri is expected to be able to restore people with the help of good food, service and ambience. There is just as much reason to come for the particular design as there is for the delicious dinner. The exposed ceiling and cement bones give the space a pared back, industrial look – a foil for the otherwise super-polished dining experience, which originates from the idea of combining Wabi sabi’s raw feeling and French decor style. Modern minimal dining tables and chairs balanced out the fancy classic chandeliers and leather booth sofa. With a touch of moody blue and warm yellow lights reminiscing the sky color at dawn, we wanted to create an intimacy and enchanting atmosphere to ensure customers an excellent dining experience.
